How do I make a referral?

What happens next?

The referral is discussed with regard to suitability and appropriateness in accordance with Padstones' Policies and Procedures.

Deciding suitability

Padstones offers high support accommodation to young people, many of whom are vulnerable. All referrals to us will have to fulfil our accommodation criteria.

Who can't we accept?

In brief, anyone with a history of persistent violent outbursts, criminal damage and long term offending. Habitual drug abuse or serious alcohol habit. Sex offenders, arsonists and those with severe mental health problems and or learning difficulties.

My referral fits the criteria, what happens next?

That depends on the immediate need. If the young person has no place to go then an emergency bed may be available. The cost of this is £15 per night. Otherwise a date and time for interview will be offered.

What is an emergency bed?

This is accommodation offered on a temporary basis for a period of up to 7 nights. The accommodation is fully furnished with bed linen provided on a self-catering basis. The occupant will receive £5 every other day for food. Cleaning materials etc are provided. Referrals can only be accepted up to 11.00pm

General Information

Those who are accepted as residents at Padstones have to make a strong commitment to helping solve their problems.

They must sign up for education or training or actively seek work. They must agree to undertake Keywork sessions, which include practical living skills, emotional support. They have to abide by the house rules, including a curfew.

All residents take responsibility for keeping their accommodation clean and tidy.

All residents make a contribution to the rent.

The accommodation is single room with shared use of bathroom, kitchen, lounge and laundry facilities.

Padstones has a Floating Support and Outreach Worker who is available for those who have a housing related need or require support in their present accommodation.
