PADSTONES

WHAT WE OFFER

WHAT DOES PADSTONES OFFER?

Safe accommodation in small units with 24-hour supervision, move-on accommodation, landlord/landlady service and floating support throughout the Thames Valley.

WHERE IS THE ACCOMMODATION?

There are two fully staffed residential units. In Burnham, Bucks - Reedham House can accommodate up to nine people grouped in three flats. In High Wycombe, Havenfield houses up to eight young adults. All of these units are supported twenty-four hours a day, three hundred and sixty-five days a year.

For those with reduced needs for support following a period in one of Padstones' main accommodation units, two move-on flats are available, housing up to five young people.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Young people aged 16-19 who are stranded with nowhere suitable to live. PADSTONES is not a hostel, nor just a place to sleep. It is a place where they can start to get their life together.

WHAT DOES A RESIDENT GET?

g    A safe, secure environment - No one is allowed in
              without the Duty Officer's permission.

g    Their own one-to-one Keyworker and there is someone
on hand day and night to help sort out problems.

g    Practical help - with form filling, dealing with
             agencies, housing, benefits, etc.

g    Emotional support and guidance, and where needed
             counselling can be arranged.

g    Careers Advice - help with life skills, education,
              job choices and training options.

HOW DO I MAKE A REFERRAL?

It is essential that adequate background information about the young person be shared with us.  We provide a referral form for this purpose.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

The referral is discussed with regard to suitability and appropriateness in accordance with Padstones’ Policies and Procedures.

DECIDING SUITABILITY

Padstones offers high support accommodation to young people, many of whom are vulnerable.  All referrals to us will have to fulfil our accommodation criteria.

WHO CAN’T WE ACCEPT?

In brief, anyone with a history of persistent violent outbursts, criminal damage and long term offending.  Habitual drug abuse or serious alcohol habit.  Sex offenders, arsonists and those with severe mental health problems and or learning difficulties.

MY REFERRAL FITS THE CRITERIA, WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

That depends on the immediate need.  If the young person has no place to go then an emergency bed may be available.  The cost of this is £15 per night.  Otherwise a date and time for interview will be offered.

WHAT IS AN EMERGENCY BED?

This is accommodation offered on a temporary basis for a period of up to 7 nights.  The accommodation is fully furnished with bed linen provided on a self-catering basis.  The occupant will receive £5 every other day for food.  Cleaning materials etc are provided. Referrals can only be accepted up to 11.00 p.m.
